Achieving Optimal Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Project Among Racial/Ethnic and Sexual/Gender Minorities in Mississippi
USM is partnering with My Brother’s Keeper, Inc. (MBK) as part of a 2023 NIH Community Partnerships to Advance Science for Society (ComPASS) Award to address health disparities in Mississippi. The initiative, focused on racial, ethnic, and sexual/gender minorities, will employ community-based participatory research (CBPR) to improve sexual and reproductive healthcare for underserved populations.
The purpose of the SRH Project is to address structural factors to ensure that all Mississippians have a right to safe and affordable healthcare options to achieve optimal SRH. This inaugural community-based organization-led initiative utilizes a participatory approach to engage structural organization stakeholders, target community populations, and academic researchers (the Mississippi Health Equity Research Assembly, HERA) in the development of structural interventions.
